You receive routine obstetrics care from Dr. Samuel Botros, such as:

Routine blood work
At specific times during your pregnancy, you have routine blood tests that monitor your health and check for health conditions that might affect you and your baby, such as anemia and gestational diabetes.

You also have a routine blood test that checks for chromosomal disorders such as Down syndrome. If you have a family history of a genetic disease, Dr. Samuel Botros can perform additional genetic screening.

Prenatal education
Dr. Samuel Botros devotes time to teaching you about your pregnancy, covering a wide range of information such as details about your baby’s growth, natural changes in your body, and delivery procedures.

You also have time to ask any questions you might have, whether about nutrition, expected weight gain, or normal aches and problems that are expected during pregnancy.

WHEN WILL I HAVE AN OB ULTRASOUND?

Dr. Samuel Botros may perform an ultrasound any time during your pregnancy to check your baby’s development. However, there are two standard obstetrics ultrasounds.

You may have an ultrasound during your first appointment to confirm your due date, look for multiple babies, or to confirm you’re pregnant. Another routine ultrasound is done during your second trimester, around 18-20 weeks.

During the second trimester ultrasound, Dr. Samuel Botros examines your baby’s growth and anatomy, the position of the placenta, and the amount of amniotic fluid. You may also learn the gender of your baby during this ultrasound.
